Training Centre (Brockville)

We provide third party training and specialize in serving workers who are injured. Our Training Centre in Brockville offers employment preparation training, skills building, a work experience program, as well as creative job search techniques. All of our staff combine teaching certificates, university degrees and real world experience to instruct adults in a friendly and professional manner.  The ratio of students to instructors is 3:1 to create an ideal learning environment.

Employment Preparation Programs:

Bookkeeping Clerk Preparation (NOC 1431)

Program Description:

This introductory skills based program equips individuals with the essential skills required to process many of the transactions found in business today. Emphasis is placed on an understanding of basic accounting principles, technical computer skills, and customer service skills to offer the best advantage in the competitive labour market. Commonly a 32 week program; however content and duration can be modified to suit the needs of individual students.

Program Objectives:

  • Explain the functions of basic accounting and general bookkeeping
  • Demonstrate an introductory level of understanding of the accounting cycle and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Process transactions (A/R, A/P, petty cash, inventory) and prepare month end reports
  • Demonstrate introductory level skills with both manual journals and computerized accounting systems
  • Wordprocess general office correspondence and accounting related documents
  • Create and manage spreadsheets that contain formulas and functions
  • Source and sort data using a database application
  • Demonstrate introductory level skills with presentation and publishing applications
  • Access information via the Internet and correspond via email
  • Operate a variety of office equipment and machines
  • Model a customer friendly attitude and demonstrate effective customer service skills

Customer Service/Retail Sales Preparation (NOC 1453 & NOC 6421)

Program Description:

This practical, skills based program equips individuals with the essential skills required to succeed in a customer service environment. Emphasis is placed on both hard and soft skills to offer the best advantage in the competitive labour market. Commonly a 16 week program; however content and duration can be modified to suit the needs of individual students.

Program Objectives:

  • Model a customer friendly attitude and demonstrate effective customer service skills
  • Identify verbal and nonverbal cues to assist in customer service resolutions
  • Use tools and techniques to calm upset customers
  • Demonstrate professional telephone customer service skills
  • Process sales transactions manually, with a cash register and with Point of Sale software
  • Demonstrate an understanding of decimals, percentage, markup, and applicable taxes
  • Balance floats and end of day sales
  • Use word processors, spreadsheets and databases at an introductory level
  • Access information via the Internet and provide customer service via email

Office Assistant Preparation (NOC 1411)

Program Description:

This practical, skills based program equips individuals with the essential skills required to succeed in an office environment. Emphasis is placed on both technical computer skills and customer service skills to offer the best advantage in the competitive labour market. Commonly a 24 week program; however content and duration can be modified to suit the needs of individual students.

Program Objectives:

  • Use effective business writing skills to create and wordprocess general office correspondence, forms and reports
  • Create and manage spreadsheets that contain formulas, functions and graphics
  • Build a basic database and effectively source and sort data
  • Display introductory level skills with presentation and publishing applications
  • Demonstrate solid research skills for both electronic and print resources
  • Access information via the Internet and correspond via email
  • Navigate operating system software
  • Demonstrate an understanding of computer components
  • Operate a variety of office equipment and machines
  • Demonstrate an understanding of petty cash, accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • Model a customer friendly attitude and demonstrate effective customer service skills

Program Description:

This skills based program equips individuals with the essential skills required to succeed in a computerized warehouse or retail type environment. Emphasis is placed on both technical computer skills and customer service skills to offer the best advantage in the competitive labour market. Commonly a 24 week program; however content and duration can be modified to suit the needs of individual students.

Program Objectives:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of inventory principles

Educational Upgrade Programs:

High School Diploma Preparation

Program Description:

In preparation for post secondary education or preparation for the workforce, the high school diploma is a powerful tool. This tutoring and remediation program is ideal for individuals who require a high school diploma and have difficulty completing the courses independently. For those individuals who would not normally be successful with coursework structured by Independent Learning Centre or the local school board, CSE Consulting offers valuable assistance. Commonly a 48 week program; however depending on an individuals commitment, motivation, ability, aptitude, and literacy levels, time lines may be adjusted to reflect individual progress.

Program Objectives:

By the end of the program students will have completed the necessary courses (at least 4 maturity credits) to satisfy the requirements for a high school diploma. In addition they will be able to:

  • Apply strategies to read more effectively and comprehend written work
  • Use word processors, spreadsheets and databases at an introductory level
  • Access information via the Internet and correspond via email
  • Navigate operating system software
  • Demonstrate an understanding of computer components
  • Apply strategies to improve productivity (study skills, notetaking skills, test preparation)

General Educational Development (GED)

Program Description:

This program is ideal for individuals who require certification equivalent to a high school diploma or require certification to qualify for employment.

Program Objectives:

To be successful in passing the GED certification exam students must demonstrate proficiency in the following:

  • Proofreading and editing text
  • Essay writing
  • Comprehending and analyzing nonfiction, prose, poetry and drama
  • Understanding and using information related to social studies
  • Understanding and interpreting science information presented as text or graphics
  • Using formulas to calculate mathematical operations
  • Applying mathematical operations to real world situations

At the end of training students will also be able to:

Program Description:

This multipurpose program is ideal for individuals who are pursuing post secondary education or for those who require upgrading prior to returning to the workforce. Emphasis is placed on math, English, computer literacy, and education essentials.

Program Objectives:

  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of a variety of mathematical operations
  • Be familiar with writing mechanics (capitalization, commas, spelling)
  • Be able to organize ideas to create effective written work
  • Possess strategies to read more effectively and comprehend written work

  • Be able to access information via the Internet and correspond via email
  • Be familiar with operating system software
  • Be able to demonstrate an understanding of computer components

Program Description:

This practical, skills-based program equips individuals with the essential skills required to conduct a successful job search. Emphasis is placed on self-promotion, networking, and follow-up.

Program Objectives:

By the end of the program students will be equipped with:

  • A cover letter template that meets employer expectations
  • A list of resources and current websites for job searching
  • The skills to effectively source job leads
  • Written responses to typical interview questions
  • The skills to apply for jobs online

Work Experience Program

Program Description:

To increase an individuals success in preparing for a real world environment CSE Consulting offers an 8 week Work Experience program. This program offers the opportunity to demonstrate newly learned skills, expand the employment network and acquire on the job experience. Individuals must have a min. 90% attendance record to participate.
